Description

Epiduo Gel is a topical acne treatment designed to target both comedonal and inflammatory acne in a single application. It combines two active ingredients: adapalene, a synthetic retinoid that helps normalise skin cell turnover, and benzoyl peroxide, an antibacterial and keratolytic agent. Suitable for adolescents and adults, Epiduo is often prescribed when single-agent therapies are insufficient.

How It Works
Adapalene in Epiduo modulates skin cell differentiation and turnover, reducing clogged pores and preventing new comedone formation. Benzoyl peroxide works by releasing oxygen into hair follicles, creating an inhospitable environment for Propionibacterium acnes bacteria, while also exfoliating dead skin cells and reducing inflammation. This dual-action formula helps reduce the number and severity of breakouts over time, usually showing visible improvement within 4–8 weeks of consistent use.

Why Choose Epiduo
Epiduo is a convenient, once-daily treatment offering both antibacterial and comedolytic effects, making it particularly useful for patients experiencing both inflammatory papules and non-inflammatory comedones. Unlike older-generation retinoids, adapalene is typically better tolerated and less photoreactive, and its formulation with benzoyl peroxide increases overall therapeutic efficacy. Its ability to treat multiple acne lesions simultaneously makes it a preferred option in clinical dermatology settings.

Important Note
Epiduo Gel may cause skin irritation, redness, peeling, and dryness, especially in the initial weeks of use. These effects are usually mild and improve with continued use. Users should avoid excessive sun exposure and use non-comedogenic moisturisers and sun protection. The gel should be applied to clean, dry skin, avoiding the eyes, lips, and broken skin. It is not suitable during pregnancy and should be avoided in those with hypersensitivity to retinoids or peroxide-containing agents.
